Generally Greece has a mild Mediterranean climate - not humid, nor dry, just mild, clean, Mediterranean weather with a lot of sunshine. Even though, during summer, (and especially in July and August), the temperature can soar up to 40 C (over 100 F) in the shade, just about anywhere in our country.
Winter can be quite cold and snows are common in the mainland and especially in the north, in the mountains of Pindos, Evia and Crete. The temperature can go down to 0 C several times during winter, (it rarely drops below 0 C), but then again there's quite some sunshine even during winter. During winter there's usually lots of snow in the various ski resorts accross the country. Wettest period is from November to February.
The weather is generally milder in the islands.
If you prefer the mild climate, probably spring and beginning of summer (April to June) and autum (end of August to September) are the best times to visit Greece. The weather then is very comfortable, and very pleasant for most people. Now, if you like swimming, the ideal season is from July to September, when the sea is warm.
